News from J.T. Ross Jackson

Welcome to both my new website and regular blog, a platform for the serious discussion of the economy and the long-term evolution of our civilization. I bring to the debate a combination of the experience of an entrepreneurial businessman, economist, foreign exchange expert and environmental activist, being the spiritually-inspired founder and funder of the Global Ecovillage Network and its sister organization Gaia Education for over thirty years. My education and experience are in the field of problem-solving in the broadest sense, in both business and government. I find that my approach to suggesting solutions to society’s problems tends to be more practical than philosophical or ideological. My goal is to contribute to the realization of a well-functioning global society in peace and harmony, while respecting the rights and wishes of all peoples.

Thus, my previous book, Occupy World Street: A global roadmap for radical economic and political reform(2012) offers very concrete proposals for eight new international institutions that I see as necessary to achieve harmonious international cooperation in a coming sustainable society.

My upcoming book, THE BAD NEWS & THE GOOD NEWS. The Economics of Collapse and The Birth of a Regenerative Society is a sequel to Occupy World Street

The first part is primarily a critique of the dominant economic system, including many widespread misunderstandings about the economy. The second part focuses on the national aspects of a coming ideal civilization at some point in our future—a civilization that I call a “regenerative society”, because it will be the first human global society on this planet that can last indefinitely by consuming no more than nature can provide each year. That is to say, if we can survive the coming collapse of our current society, which is living far beyond its means, and seems incapable of dealing collectively with its existential problems.

Thus, the BAD NEWS is that our society is hard-wired for collapse, but the GOOD NEWS is that collapse is not the end of the world, but can be the beginning of something new, something better.

Publication of the paperback version is planned for February 8, 2024 and the e-book for March 21, 2024. There will a launch for both formats of the book on the first day of springtime, and a presentation at Duemosegaard, my regenerative farm near Copenhagen, Denmark.

Stay tuned to this place for some surprising insights into how the economy really works and into how current geopolitical events are likely to unfold and relate to the coming post-collapse society that I envisage. I’ll be creating regular blogs, podcasts and videos here on my new website, and welcome comments and questions, followers, some shares, and some new friends.
